Our Story

Sorensen Solar is a family run business that was conceived while we spent years hunting for affordable solar.  Expensive quote after expensive quote kept arriving in our "Inbox."  We finally reached a point where we started to ask ourselves, "if these companies can install solar then why can't we?"

Throughout our journey to have solar installed on our home, we have had companies quote us wide ranging amounts for a simple single family home installation.  Quotes as low as $60,000 and as high as just under $100,000.  None of those quotes included battery backups.  In fact, we have been searching for affordable solar since 2009, when we purchased our current home.

We have spent countless hours reading and conducting extensive research.  As we started to dig deeper "into the weeds" of installing solar, we discovered huge differences in pricing, both from a pure hardware perspective and the associated installation costs.  One thing, however, is quite clear, none of our research resulted in us owning a system without enduring either a 20 year payment plan or entering into a "lease in perpetuity."  Leasing, in many cases, results in the homeowner having to pay the cost of the lease as well as STILL having to pay the power company a healthy monthly sum.  We have neighbors that currently fit in this model and reading their electric bill is like reading the next computer algorithm.  Our neighbors couldn't make sense of the bill and, when they showed it to us, it made no sense to us either.  My guess is it makes sense to only the company collecting the monthly payment.

One thing is absolutely certain, the end result of this research painted a very clear picture.  This wonderful technology, technology that can save families billions as well as help save our planet, is not being distributed efficiently and in a cost effective way that everyone can afford.  Every day families are saddled with expensive monthly power bills and ever increasing costs of living.  These families should be able to own a solar system that would help the planet and result in paying little or nothing to the power companies.  Wouldn't it be nice to cool or heat your home without taking money from your real survival needs?  We hear you and Sorensen Solar can help.
